Corina Demetriou, Senior Researcher

Corina has many years of experience in legal practice and legal research in the field of migration,fundamental and  labour rights. Since 2007 she is the national expert for Cyprus at the European Network of Legal Experts in the Non-discrimination Field. Also, she was senior legal expert in the field of fundamental rights for the RAXEN and FRALEX and has co-authored the Reports of the Cypriot RAXEN and FRALEX team (2004-2010). From 2014 onwards she is the legal expert of the FRANET national team, on the basis of a contract awarded by the FRA.  She has produced numerous other reports and press articles on free movement, migration, integration, asylum, rights of the child, trafficking, anti-racism and anti-discrimination for EU-level organisations such as ICMPD, Milieu, the Migration Policy Group and Human European Consultancy. From 2005 until 2012 she acted as national co-ordinator and delivered training to NGOs and trade unions on anti-discrimination under a pan-European project operated by the Migration Policy Group and Human European Consultancy. She is the director of Symfiliosi.

Dr Dimitris Trimithiotis

Dimitris is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Cyprus, in the Department of Social and Political Sciences. He is also Research Associate at the Mediterranean Laboratory of Sociology (LAMES). He holds a PhD in Sociology from Aix-Marseille University, France. His main fields of interest are political communication and sociology of communication. He participated in several European research projects on European Union’s politics and elections, on media and journalism, immigration and youth participation in the political process such as The VoCy 2015; Debating Europe 2014; Discours d’Europe 2013; MIGNET 2013.

Dr Sophia Stavrou

Sophia hοlds a PhD in Sociology from Aix-Marseille University, France. She is currently Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Social and Political Sciences, University of Cyprus and Research Associate at the Mediterranean Laboratory of Sociology (AMU-LAMES-CNRS). She has previously worked at the Department of Sociology, University of Provence and as Research Associate at the French National Institute of Pedagogical Research for the ‘EuroPEP-Socrates II’ Research Project on European educational policies. She conducted research on social and educational inequalities, European higher education policy, University-labour market connection, youth employability, and youth mobility. Her main research interests are in European social policy, sociology of education, as well as in social sciences’ research methodology.
